Gyoza

Gyoza are a modern dumpling, a 20th century invention. When Japanese soldiers returned home after WWII, they wanted to recreate the jiaozi they ate in China with familiar ingredients and techniques. The filling is finely chopped, the dough for the wrapper thin, and they possess an overall delicate quality. There is harmony between their crispy pan-fried exterior and succulent center, sticky and tender. Gyoza promotes balance, blending of cultures, and refinement. Keep going, the gyoza says, and find the balance that suits you.
